Green Power Fukaura: 2nd Fukaura Town Forestry Workshop Held

Green Power Fukaura has been involved in promoting forestry in the Town of Fukaura since the project development stage. We continue to participate in discussions as a member of the Fukaura Town Forestry Promotion Council, which was the forum for drafting the Fukaura Town Forestry Promotion Vision, formulated in the previous fiscal year.

On November 30, the second Forestry Workshop was held as one of the initiatives to promote forestry.

In this workshop, Mr. Atsuki Takada from Furukawa Chiiki No Sogo Kenkyujo, a company that supports forestry promotion across Japan, gave a talk entitled “The Role and Potential of Forestry: Forestry is Full of Possibilities.” He discussed the potential of forestry and community development in various regions of the country. Next, an aromatherapist, Ms. Ryoko Dan from Garimpeiro de Aromas, discussed the benefits of wood-based aroma oils in her talk entitled “The Story of the Scent of Trees and Forest-Scented Sachet Making: Trees in Fukaura, Aomori, and the World.” The workshop participants then made a scented sachet using Shinpeki (deep green) oil inspired by Fukaura Town and originally blended by Ms. Dan, along with locally sourced cedar sawdust.

Approximately 50 people, including forestry workers and local residents, attended the workshop. Feedback from the participants included “I now feel a stronger bond with the forest” and “I have learned a lot about aroma oils.”

We will continue to work with the Fukaura municipal government and the local community to promote forestry.
