The Futtsu PV Plant was the first solar facility completed in Japan by GPI, and is located on 52ha of a former sand extraction site in southern Chiba prefecture near the southeastern part of Tokyo Bay.
The facility reached commercial operation in February 2016, and sells its electrical output under a feed-in-tariff (FiT) secured power purchase agreement (PPA) to the utility TEPCO Energy Partner, etc.
