Create. Connect. Grow.

Founded in 2004, Green Power Investment Corporation (“GPI”) is a renewable energy developer based in Tokyo, Japan. GPI’s development team has worked together for decades across a variety of institutions, and brings a wealth of experience from the power and wind industries in Japan as well as North America and Europe.

The president and founder of GPI, Toshio Hori, is a pioneer in wind and other renewable energy development. He has held positions in both private industry and government, helping form the wind power market in Japan as it is today.

In 2015, GPI secured a highly strategic partnership with Pattern Energy Group LP (“Pattern Development”), an international leader in developing renewable energy and transmission projects that has brought more than 4,500 MW of renewable energy to market. Through this partnership, Pattern Development became a significant equity investor in GPI and committed to provide additional capital support along with unfettered access to its development expertise, technical know-how, organizational strengths and equipment purchasing power. Management personnel from both companies have worked together in prior companies on wind and other energy project development for decades, and this structure allows the teams to again combine their efforts as a single highly efficient unit. Pattern Development is headquartered in San Francisco.

GPI and Pattern Development share common values, including a strong commitment to promoting renewable development, which drives our dedication to working closely with communities to create renewable energy projects.
